Banda Tatya karadkar is a simple Varkari Leader who led the Varkaris to protest against DOW Project in the Pandharpur-River area.
After having met him personally, we decided to have his Pravachan at Snehasadan, 250 Shaniwar Peth, Pune-30. Of course the invitations and banners were prepared. The Vadapavs & tea were ordered.
Finally when the day arrived for Tatya to come, we waited for him. He did not come. We contacted him. He had unfortunately forgotten about the whole program.
Supposedly trustworthy man from Pune working in Alandi was requested to hand over a couple of Invitations to Tatya & his associates. He never reached those invitations to Tatya. Probably, Tatya was waiting for the Formal Invitation. The program never took off.
However, determined not to be disheartened we continued to organise programs at Snehasdan. Today, we can proudly say that the people do respond to the invitations of Snehasadan.
Having the Programs announced in the local Marathi Newspapers, the people come on their own and actively participate in the Inter Faith Dialogue events.
We realised that one need not force the people. The good works are always responded to. The beginnings may be small. But again
Small is Beautiful.
